What does "it is an annual float, but I'm assigned week X" mean?

I'm looking at a timeshare ad and it is says, "it is an annual float, but I'm assigned week __". What does that mean? I own a floating week at Tahiti in LV, so I know what a floating week is. I just don't understand how you can have a floating week that is assigned a week number.

If there is an underlying deed on the ownership, it would be attatched to a certain week. If the ownership is a float week, then you should be able to reserve whichever week you want within the float period. If the seller has already reserved a certain week for an upcoming use period, it could mean that as the assignment. It could also be the ownership floats within ranges of weeks in different years, (like a "Red-White-Blue" rotating basis thing), and the next usage may have been already assigned a specific week.

I have a TS that is part of a 6-month float period. Each year, I would express a few preferences, and they would assign a week based on that. Lately, they've moved to a 'you call us and request the week' approach.

I have another where the week is pre-determined, but I can elect to release it and reserve another, if I choose.

Each resort manages their float program a little differently.
I'd contact the resort's owner/member services office and get it from the horses' mouth, so to speak.

I own a fixed week and it also has an "attached" float week that we had to purchase along with the fixed week which the resort assigns every year- it's always a different week every year and is assigned like 20 years out. They give you the whole schedule (20 years out) so you can make plans to either use it, exchange it or rent it out.
