Hello!

Looking for some great suggestions for whale watching in Maui. We have one member in our group who is leery of boats, but wants to see whales, so suggestions for a larger boat are appreciated.

We're going to be using http://captainsteves.com in the next few days (leave for Maui tomorrow!). It is a relatively small raft, but lots of fun.

I've used https://www.pacificwhale.org before and they have a big boat. I don't like the large crowd on them, but it might be a better fit for the one member of your group. They also have a cruise out of Ma'alaea if you happen to be staying in the Kihei/Wailea area. I think Captain Steve's only goes out of Lahaina.

We always use Maui Ocean Adventures. Slip 11 at Lahaina Harbor. They have two 45 foot Zodiacs that can zip around to where the whales are active. Have been using them for the past 20 years. They have a website and a Facebook page.

We were on a whale watch and a leery woman panicked and the cruise had to return to port 2 hrs early she got many dirty looks. Buy her a whale video and take the rest of your group on a smaller boat out of Lahina to appreciate the size of these magnificent animals. Every one will have a better day. The huge boat out of Malalea Harbor is too big to appreciate the humpbacks.

We have used Ultimate Whale Watch & Snorkel several years from Lahaina and really enjoyed it. A Marine Naturalist will explain about the whales and let you listen to their whale songs with a Hydrophone.

They cater to keen photographers so make sure that everyone can take good pictures in the best lighting.

Their boats are super fast and have shade. You can read more about their vessels on their website.

We ended up using Pacific Whale Foundation as it suited the needs of our group the best. Happy to report my stepmother enjoyed the boat and we saw many whales. Ironically the best breech our group saw was not from the boat, but from the lanai at Merriman's restaurant.
