Planning on buying a fixed VGV resale platinum week 10. What are my options to exchange to another week 12-8 months out?

If you don't use your deeded week, you would use your SOs to book another week, which can't be done until 8 months out. If you are flexible as to when you can travel and can travel during non-peak times, your chances of securing another week are pretty good, if you can reserve at midnight 8 months out (as of now), although it may or may not be a VGV unit. If its a VGV unit with a pool you're looking for, your odds are very low, since most owners use their units or rent them out.

I'm pretty sure VGV can float to another unit in the same season from 12-8 months, but availability is limited as it depends if someone else has given up their week first.

Yes we can. I have week 9, but exchanged for week 8 when one became available (before the 10 month mark). I will still be in a 2 BR townhouse, just probably not the one I am deeded.

10-8 months out not 12-8 months.

VGV week can attempted to be changed (within deeded season - same villa type) at 10-8 months out based on availability. At 8 months standard VSN exchange using SOs.

It can be done - but not necessarily easily.
As stated - an owner with same villa type within season would need to give up.
