I know all the horror stories about the place but have been an owner since it was built
Use it for trades and it's always worked great
A friend is going to Disney in May and was looking for a place to stay and I thought about letting them use my unit but after reading some of the reviews I'm not sure what to do.
Some are great and others are horrible.
Just wondering if they treat exchangers different than owners?
Any information would be appreciated.
I'd hate to let them use it and have it turn out to be a disaster
Thanks for any help

If your friends use your unit, they will be the guests of an owner, not exchangers.

Hi my name is Moe, and I have been a owner at that resort for 22 years now. During that period we have up graded 4 times and now own
a three bedroom detach unit in the 5000 building. Over the years I have send family and friends without to much problem. However things
have change a bit and the selling staff are more aggressive trying to sell Friends in the resort. If you do send them, just tell them if there
not interested to buy in, not to accept any free lunch or go to any presentation. If ask just tell them with a firm voice that your not interested
and just walk away. Went you call to make the reservation, just make sure what building they will be in, and that it is in the same building
you own and not a down grade. With Westgate now you cannot presume anything, just make sure your getting what you own went making
the reservation.

I used to own at Westgate Lakes, but no longer do. HOWEVER, this past summer (Aug 2016) a friend of mine who also owns at Westgate Lakes, sent me to Westgate Vacation Villas as her guest. It was FABULOUS !!! When you stay as a guest of an owner, you get the same priviledges as the owner. So upon check-in they gave us 10 wristbands for the waterpark. Our 2 bedroom unit with a loft sleeps 10 people so they gave us 10 wristbands to use to enter the waterpark for the week. Your guests will also get 10 or 20% owner discount from the Marketplace because the room key will state they are "Owners". We got a spare key for our kids so when they went to buy something they got the owners discount. I think they got discounts when they bought ice-cream too. Anyway, my point is...when you send a guest to Westgate, they give your guest the same privileges that you would receive. Rest assured, Westgate looks at them as potential owners so they WILL show them a GREAT TIME !!!!

They are not coming in as an exchange. Exchanging your week does not change or remove your owner status. You booked it as an exchange, but they will be classified as GUESTS of the OWNER which gives them owner privileges as you would receive.

I just booked Westgate Vacation Villas for February 10-17, 2017 using a bonus week from Trading Places International. I had to pay an upgrade fee since our Las Vegas Desert Club sleeps 6, but the unit we booked sleeps 8. Any suggestions for us: we will be 4 seniors ranging in age from 72 to 86. Our neighbors will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary and this vacation is our gift to them. Are there really pets allowed in the resort? :(

Yes, unfortunately pets are allowed. I would suggest you call asap and have them put notes on your reservation that you prefer a building/unit that does not allow pets. They do not put guests with pets in some of their newer buildings. But I do advise to call immediately and be sure your reservation is noted ahead of time. I have a daughter that has SEVERE allergies. Once they gave us a unit that had a pet in it recently. We knew it immediately when my daughter walked into the unit. They apologized and claimed that the previous guest did not advise they had a pet in the unit. But they moved us quickly to one of the newest high rise buildings.
