Hi Tuggers and Happy New Year.

I've booked a last-minute trip to Orlando this winter and have a hold on a 2 Bedroom (8/6) at Westgate Vacation Villas. All recent RCI reviews are pretty positive but I know the resort gets a bad rap from many, largely relating to the sales practices.

I'm travelling without my spouse, as I understand, I am not eligible for the 90 minute (=5 hour) session. Can anyone confirm this?

Also, do any of you have any advice about requesting a certain building/phase/floor and how to go about this? I would be checking in a day after the official check in date and am concerned I might get stuck with a poorer unit.

I've stayed at Summer Bay, Vistana, Silver Lake and Orange Lake so I have made the Orlando rounds but I am a little sheepish about Westgate. I don't mind outdated decor as long as the unit is clean and the resort is reasonably well managed. Would welcome any encouraging stories!

Happy New Year to you too. I stayed at Wesgate Vacation Villas last August in the NNN building and it was very clean and decent. I always request units that have a poolview from the balcony. I usually have my request honored. It seems there are more people that don't like poolviews due to noise. I have never been kept awake at night due to noise from guests in the pool. For one, I am usually not in bed before the pool closes. I have never had the experience of checking in a day later so I don't know how they honor requests for guests arriving a day later. It may be to your advantage if options are available the day after anyway. But technically your unit should already be assigned by the time you arrive. Unless you made a reservation that requires a timeshare presentation, it really doesn't matter if you are traveling with your spouse or not. Just tell them NO when asked to do a tour or asked to attend an informational breakfast. It's your vacation and you are not obligated to spend it on a timeshare tour. Have a FANTASTIC time !!!!
