Someone asked me about WeBuyTimeshar.es. I'd never heard of it. After looking at the site, it appears they do buy outright; but I'm guessing they offer a lowball price. Does anyone know anything about this company?

Someone asked me about *************.**. I'd never heard of it. After looking at the site, it appears they do buy outright; but I'm guessing they offer a lowball price. Does anyone know anything about this company?

First of all, why does the website have a Spain domain (.es) when the website is totally in English?

Secondly, from reading it, it appears they do the same (sort of) bait-and-switch as some of these Google advertisers. They bait owners of worthless timeshares by saying "We buy timeshares. Contact us to see if yours qualifies."

They know that over 90% of owners who inquire own worthless timeshares. Then, the "switch". They give the dreaded PCC sermon about how worthless that person's timeshare is, how difficult/impossible it will be to give away, how the owner's kids will be saddled down with the liability after the owner dies, how you can find more economical accommodations elsewhere, how special assessments are guaranteed to come at the most inopportune time, etc. Then tell the owner that it is in his best interests to pay this PCC thousands of dollars to terminate the timeshare agreement.

At first glance, it appears the name is just a clever way to get the word "timeshares" into the URL, and using the Spanish ".es" is how they did it. Not a lot different that something like "watch.tv" or whatever.

That was my reaction. I didn't know .es is Spain.

Thanks for that plausible explanation. That does seem to make sense.

Now back to the OP's inquiry. The OP said that "after looking at the site, it appears they do buy outright".

That wouldn't make sense. Right now, and for probably many years to come, there are hundreds (if not, thousands) of free TSs available such as on E-bay, TUG's Bargain Basement, etc. Many of these have the closing costs and next MF absorbed by the seller. So if this company were really looking to buy timeshares, why would it spend resources advertising when E-bay is just a few clicks away.

And if they can get free ones on E-bay with closing costs and next MF paid, do you think they're really going to pay someone lots of money to buy a similar timeshare?
