I recieved my notice that the Lakes are going to be refurbished. Complete with Granite, new furniture, drapes ect. It looks like it will cost about 30,000 per unit. Any thoughts?
I got my brochure. It looks beautiful!!! I wish they would upgrade the rest of the resort, first. Lakes weren't THAT bad, IMHO. (although this new decor is MUCH nicer!!!)
It does make it difficult to be a group of HMA's. That is how we are rated. However, the lakes and cascades are the only sections (I think) that trade through II. So we are not grouped with the rest. I do love the resort, but like you I want to see a complete make over.

Each section of the resort has it's own Association/fees/Board. And some sections have collected or are assessing more than others. So they have different amounts to spend and different ideas how to spend it. It is one of the reasons i don't think Westgate, Vistana and other mega resorts - or even smaller ones with different Associations and units - should be lumped together under one ranking or resort code. OLCC was recently split into 4 sections - long overdue - Vistana, Westgate and others should do the same. It's hard to know what you are actually getting when different sections have different layouts, features and refurb periods yet it's all under one code and one overall ranking. That trick kept the older sections of OLCC vastly overrated for years.
