I own several timeshares that use II as an exchange company - including Marriott (deeded week at Ko Olina and additional points), and also Westgate.

I bought a GL loft unit (a studio +?) last year.

I believe that Vidanta gives free membership to the Registry Collection for a year; I have not had a chance to use it.

The question is whether I should become continue membership with the Registry Collection - ie is it worth it - can one use the Registry Collection?

The first is the quality of resorts - there seems to be some overlap with RCI (of course, members of the Registry Collection have full access to RCI resorts).

The next question is variety and number of locations of such resorts - I am surprised that there are no resorts in Hawaii directly affiliated with the Registry Collection (although resorts such as Aulani, Wyndham and HGVC resorts in Hawaii are accessible as regular RCI resorts to Registry Collection members).

The third question is will I get a reasonable number of credits with the Registry Collection to stay there - in a minimal 1 BR unit for a week or so.

The fourth question is how easy is it for the exchanges requests to go through - one thing it seems is that the Registry Collection/RCI do not have an option of making exchanges successfully online, unlike II.

You are asking the same questions I have :)

In general I find that the registry collection is not worth much to me. The membership fee and the exchange fee can be significant, and when added to the maintenance fee for a loft you will pay a dreadful amount for an exchange that quite frankly isn't worth it. If you have the do not pay unless you go addendum, you will probably find that you could rent what you want for less than going through the Registry Collection.

I have a loft at Vida also. Previously I used SFX to trade for Hawaii using a Grand Mayan, and was very happy with the exchange. I had called SFX regarding the trading power of the Grand Luxxe Loft, and the agent told me it was considered a studio for exchange. If the agent is correct, I would not exchange the Loft but would try to reserve a Grand Mayan two bedroom and place it in for exchange. Vida equivalency is Grand Luxxe Loft equals Grand Bliss one bedroom equals Grand Mayan two bedroom.

As elsewhere I will watch for others comments, so I can learn also.

We have had Registry twice and did not renew either time. We found it expensive and we do not do as many exchanges as we used to. They never sent us any information about what was available. We tired checking online, but did not have much luck. I have had better luck with SFX, but have had a GL request in for a yer now and no confirmation. We did get a great deal on a Bonus week at Grand Mayan through SFX. We keep regugalr RCI and II for the extra vacations features. Sometimes they have awesome deals.

I just got this in the mail, SFX special on GL using a bonus week, maybe they can fill your request?
