My youngest is a high school senior this year---so we'll be empty nesters a year from now. To celebrate, we've set up two weeks in the islands, just after graduation. The third week of June will see us in an ocean view 2BR unit at Kauai Beach Villas. The fourth week of June will see us headed back to the big island at Kohala Suites.

Can't wait!

That's when we started going every year too. It's been ten years since our last one moved out. Enjoy, you'll have a great time.

That is the best time of the year. The days are long, the weather is warm but not hot. Also, the crowds get bigger during July and August. Have fun.

This trip the kids have been invited to join us...maybe not next time though!
My adult kids came in one of our first Hawaii trips too. It was a great trip.

We have some trips where we've had our adult kids with us, and some where it's just been dh and I. We have started going every year now that we are retired empty nesters though.

My youngest starts college tomorrow. She moved out this summer in with her boyfriend. Not because we encouraged it but determined to move out and be free.

We tried to explain to her life's not cheap, but they never really understand till on their own.

Well couple weeks ago they came to the house telling us how right we were on cost and wanted to know if they could move in if that's paid rent why going to school.

Like suckers we agreed with some ground rules, and no rent but specific chores. Then they mention their dog, yikes he's a pup 7 months old but almost 70lbs. Sibearan Huskie. Then they mention her boyfreinds brother was living with them and wanted to know if he could rent one of the rooms also...

So we went from empty nesters to a full house 1 girl back 2 boys and a dog big enough to move me around.

I guess better to help them out why going to school so they can be successful in life. Then say no.

Don't go on a long trip to HI because the house might not be there at all when you return. Sorry but this doesn't sound like a situation that's likely to end well.
