Planning on selling our Hawaii time-share. First realtor said they are selling for $2000 and his commission would be $1500.

Good thing I was sitting down when I read his email.

$1500 seems to be a standard flat rate price for resellers. I was quoted the same number on a sale in progress valued at $5500.

It's not 75%. $1,500 is likely the minimum which is fairly normal for a legitimate broker.

You don't need a broker. All you need to do is list it on a few sites like Redweek and tug. Then when you have a buyer contact LT Transfers and they will take care of the rest.

Standard real estate commissions simply can't apply to low priced timeshare transactions. 6% of $2000 is only $120. It wouldn't even be worth the brokers time to only get paid $120. I can understand why they have set minimums. As Saintsfanfl indicated, you probably don't need a broker. Though you may not get quite as much in the total sale, but based on the commissions you will come out ahead in the net proceeds.
