My EOY ski week begins March 6 in N. Conway. I can't remember a year with this little snow in the last 15 years. We are wondering whether canceling might be prudent. The mountains do have a much greater capacity for making snow than ever before in the NE but still wondering about conditions. Loose granular is more of a challenge for me as a average aging skier.

Has anyone been out on the slopes that can say how the conditions are presently? If so please mention where you were skiing also. Thanks

WV was fine today!

We are on the other side of the Kanc...down at Cold Spring in Ashland. Took the kids up to Waterville Valley today. They said it was packed powder, but they had 44 of 50 trails open, most of the lifts were operating, and the place was a zoo. Cranmore looks to have a pretty good selection of trails, too, as does Loon. Good luck as you decide. It's hard to gamble with Mother Nature, isn't it?

We were in Lincoln from 2/13-2/19 and skied Brettonwoods.

15th was great, even the glades were open
16th: rain, rain, rain, rain and more rain.
17th: ice, ice, ice and more ice!
18th: Groomers were out all night and it was better.

After the rain on the 16th the glades were all done. Pretty much any trail that didn't have man made snow making was also shut down. I have been watching conditions at Brettonwoods because we are planning on going back mid March. But, I'm holding off on booking until I know for sure conditions will be ok.

To me loose granular means ice that has been machined groomed. It doesn't take much to push it all away. If you do go, ski the sides of the trail where it gets pushed to and if you get sun on part of the slope, ski the sunny area as it will soften the snow a bit.

We had groupons to snow mobile - ate the cost of those since the rain washed the trails from just about all snow.

So.....did you go?

If so, let me know which mountains you tried and how it was. I have yet to pull the trigger and make reservations for a trip in 10 days that I have time for.

Unfortunately we canceled. I saw a couple of rainy, sleety forecasts and decided to spacebank the week. Not sure how the conditions actually are at this point. I do see snow in the forecast now.
First time using the RCI platinum perk. Nice to get almost the full amount of tpu's.

Probably the best choice. Great that you could get your max TPUs with RCI.

I have been watching Brettonwoods daily, although they have a lot of terrain open all I see in the forcecast this week is very high temps and rain.

Although the main reason for our NH trips in the winter is to ski, there is something missing about our vacation when we walk around town with not a snow flake in sight.

Think my ski season may have ended also....

All well, more money in my pocket and dreams of what vacation I will use it on :)

This winter has been nuts. Some years when we go away for April break, the kids can ski at some of the mountains. And some years, the golf courses are open. I'm betting on this being a "golf course" year!

Agreed, would have loved skiing in the warm temps but the rain in the forecast is what cinched it.

We will enjoy a different week away. Just have to decide on where. Possibly Acadia National Park in the fall...probably a difficult switch at this point, or Helen, Georgia area for some hiking in the mountains. Would like to go somewhere new that we can drive to since we are going to San Francisco in August.
