We just returned from a wonderful week at the Royal Sands in Cancun. We attended a sales presentation in exchange for lunch, tours to Chichen Itza and Tulum + resort credit. I had read on TUG horror stories about sales tactics in Mexico, and had steeled myself against the onslaught. To my pleasant surprise, the sales reps at the Royal Sands were pleasant, courteous, willing to accept "No," and released us after 90 minutes - a totally painless experience! During the presentation, we were taken (on site at the Royal Sands) to a model of their new luxury resort units at Puerto Morales called Grand Residences Riviera Cancun. For anyone with big bucks to spend, this is the height of opulence, comparable to, and even better than, Marriott's Kauai Villas. Has anyone been to the Grand Residences? I would love to have your reaction/thoughts.

I had always heard that the Royals were always low pressure. Going more of the Marriott and Vistana way than the Westgate and Vidanta. There are probably only two groups I would do a presentation with in Mexico, one is at the Westin Lagunamar and the other at the Royal.

Actually very sad, when you think about it. The fact that people are surprised when a business transaction is conducted with courtesy. Sure doesn't speak well for the timeshare industry. No wonder they have the reputation they do.
