I reserved 4 nights at Royal Vista 2 bedroom for April, Saturday through Wednesday morning for 113500 points. Will the amount of points determine if oceanview ?

If the weekly point count is 203K, you have a slight chance for a partial oceanview. Oceanview units are HIGHLY requested ... the 2/2 units are NOT corner units. The "VIP" building, building #1 or also referred to as the "00" units .. are the "to died" for oceanfront 2/2 units.

My avatar was taken from one of those unit's balcony.

It is a very hard to get units with ANY ocean view units at Royal Vista ... 93 units in the building (1 or 2 bdr). The corner of the main building are all 1bdr units. There are 10 2/2 units in the VIP building. The north side of the main building in the center, would have a partial 2/2 oceanview ... just remember, north side gets less sun.

If the weekly total is 189,000 points ... sorry, those are for the units on the north side of the main building, low and over the ramps for the parking garage .. I have not notice any noise from the ramps. The west facing/Ocean Blvd facing 2/2 units might have the same variety of low & above parking garage 2/2; slightly higher 2/2 at full 2/2 203K units... also referred to as above the main entrance.

I was told by a VC when booking Royal Vista, that the rooms that cost more in points were likely the ocean view ones. I called the resort and they said the same, and added to call them at least a few days before hand to specifically request Ocean view, assuming you booked the higher point room that is. I say call a week before hand and then a day or two before hand to confirm.

My trip is not until May. Did you get the "deluxe"?

With this attitude, you may get a oceanview ... or even oceanfront. Call politely and ask the front desk ... best during a quiet time (after 11AM ... before 2PM) ... not checkout time or checkin time.

If you don't absolutely need a 2-bed, consider a 1-bed for views. They have the corner deck on two walls and even the west side units, especially northwest corner, have a nice ocean view between buildings and an inner coastal view from higher levels.

On another note, the resort is going to have a major upgrade starting in August. It's scheduled to be closed for 3 months. I noticed that the Santa Barbara also has no availability for Sept and Oct.

Just wanted to report we had a wonderful stay here. A few weeks before I changed our unit with Wyndham to a one bedroom since it was just my husband and I. Thanks Roger830 on the info. When we arrived at noon we met a wonderful front agent "Janet" she was so pleasant, respectful and professional, we chatted with her for a while so then to,our surprise she let us have the top floor unit, completely facing the ocean It was wonderful thank you Janet she made our stay so special.

We also did the owners update early morning and I can actually say even that was completely painless, even learned a couple of things from the Senior Vacation specialist Roberto, nice guy, he told us he had bought some resale points himself over the years. We had no pressure from him, he even allowed me to take his papered "offer" home and gave us his business card. Showed us the new updated unit, can't wait to go back !! Roberto told us the new system is expected to role out May 20 and a lot of the changes are to put the brakes on some of the mega renters, he stated one guy in the Lauderdale area owns 30,000,000 points and employs people to deal with all his rentals, not sure if this is true, but he really had no reason to lie.

So here's a couple of pics of our wonderful view, so glad we stayed here
