Even though Hilton Head was not in the direct path of Irma, the island was under mandatory evacuation during the hurricane. They got some storm surge, downed trees and some power outage. People have now been allowed back on the island with things getting back to norm. I have heard from Royal Dunes (we are owners at this resort) they will be open and receiving guests beginning Friday, September 15. I am sure, however, cleanup is ongoing.

Fortunately, Royal Dunes reports that "there was no significant damage to the resort." However, the island got flooding and storm surge. From The Island Packet:

Folly Field Road was clear of debris as of 1 p.m Tuesday. Parts of the bike path along the road were still flooded and large tree branches were piled on the side of the road. Still, residents and visitors should easily be able to access their homes and apartments along the road.
