Not sure if anyone has dealt with rick_timeshare before but I posted a wanted ad for Bonnet Creek. He did not respond in the forum but via the contact email. He said that he had a 2br available but then said that he was a medical doctor attending patients and therefore moneygram was the best method of payment since he could not leave his sick patients.

This is the thread:

Hi Bill,

I sent you a text some minutes ago. Kindly respond at your earliest convenience.

Regards,
Rick.

Hi Bill,

I have looked up your dates and I'm pleased to inform you that your proposed dates are still available for rent; May 18th to 21st for 3nights. Price will be $320 for the 3 nights.

If you're good-to-go I will send over my drafted timeshare rental agreement form upon your request.

Regards,
Rick.

After this the text thread was short and he ended it abruptly after I called him out on asking for a Moneygram for payment:

Rick Malley a/k/a rick_timeshare - Potential Scammer

I posted a thread in Rentals Wanted looking for a WDW/Orlando unit for late May 2016. I received a direct email message from rick_timeshare, offering a DVC Beach Club Villas 1BR unit. I replied with an inquiry requesting the rental price.

In the meantime, I checked TUG and noticed that the rick_timeshare username was for a Guest user, was only registered in November 2015, and had a low number of posts; nevertheless, I was willing to give him some leeway.

Eventually, I heard back from the user, stating his price as $100/night. He would send me a reservation form, and once I returned the form and sent payment (by check or bank deposit), he would send the reservation request to DVC. I asked him to send reservation form and payment info.

I did not hear back for two days, when I received the following email:

Hi Charles,

Good morning I hope you're well? I have attached the DVC agreement form to this e/mail for your perusal which also includes my property manager's information for payment. Please find attached PDF and and get back to me with the completed agreement form signed, and also your payment receipt. I'm going to be very busy today attending series of meetings today being the beginning of the week and I have about 5 property calls to look-into. I will like us to get done within the next 2hours. So Patsy will confirm your MoneyGram payment being a quicker and safe mode of payment so that I can go to DVC in person to confirm your reservation and also make sure that you receive your reservation confirmation today before the close of work.

Kindly get back to me soonest to wrap things up. Looking forward to hosting you and your group soonest.

Best Regards,
Rick.

I reviewed the form Rick sent to me, which listed his phone number as (210) 646-1572 and address as 350 24th Street NW, Winter Haven FL 33880. [I called the phone number, which is a Google Voice number, and received no answer.] The form asks the renter to send payment via Western Union Moneygram to "Patsy Esposito Jr." (who he alleges is acting as his property manager). I have attached the PDF to this post, so feel free to check it out -- it is full of risible language.

So to recap:

1. Non-registered TUG user
2. AOL email address
3. Google Voice phone number
4. Western Union Moneygram for payment

SCAM RISK FACTORS: 100%

If he can't leave all the sick people how will he be able to pick up a moneygram? Not that it would have made any difference but he could have thought up a much better story on why he needs a moneygram.

I live fairly close to that address. It is the address to an apartment complex. Without an apartment number it does not point to anyone but he obviously was looking for something along those lines. Real address but not a real person.

I found Patsy Esposito Jr. He is a real person who lives in the area. I'm not sure if he is stupid enough to be the primary perp on this deal but he would probably need to pick up the money grams unless someone stole his identity.

Thanks for your research. I am not sure if this person is a scammer, but all signs point to that being the case. My alarm bells just keep ringing on this one.

I admire your apparent willingness to assume some functional intellect and capability here. ;)
