I'm looking for a timeshare exchange (RCI, II, Worldmark, Dial an Exchange) near San Pedro, California in late September next year for two of us. We'll be flying in from the East Coast for a cruise and will need at least several days to recover from jet lag before sailing. When we're not sleeping, we'd like to do some site-seeing and/or wine tasting. The beach would be great too, but we're coming from a Florida beach area, so that's not top priority. Some suggestions please?

Marriott's Newport Coast Villas is probably the best and the closest.

Beyond that, there is Anaheim which has Dolphin's Cove and Peacock Suites. Peacock suites rooms are converted motel rooms and do not have full kitchens.

You could go a little south to Dana Point and stay at Riviera Beach and Spa or Capistrano Surfside Inn.

All of those require driving to get around to things.

I don't think there are any timeshares close to San Pedro. You might need to just look for a hotel unless you are willing to be farther away.

If you have a few days, you might think about Solvang or Ventura. Solvang (Worldmark) has the wine tasting and the Danish town schtick and is a nice place to relax and recuperate. It's about 3 hours from San Pedro depending on traffic with Ventura (Harbortown Point) about half that. I use Solvang as my staging area before heading into the LA area. Depending on when you need to meet your cruise, this could be a good option. I like Sunday mornings for minimal traffic impact.
I like flying into Santa Barbara with it's smaller and easier to navigate airport and cheaper car rentals.

There are two timeshares in Laguna Beach that I can recommend. Laguna Shores and Laguna Surf. The actual timeshares are nothing special, but both have drop dead gorgeous views and are on/across from the beach. The town is quaint and walkable, with lots to see and do right there, but also close enough for other SoCal adventures.

The Marriott's Newport Coast Villas may be the easiest exchange in September. It is a big resort. The two in Laguna Beach are small resorts in comparison. I know that Laguna Surf won't be an easy exchange but it uses RCI and II. I have no idea how easy it will be at Laguna Shores and if they exchange too with the two major exchange companies.

You will like the Orange County location because it is the closest to San Pedro. We recently stayed at the NCVs and it is a beautiful resort and you stated that you do not need to stay on the beach.
