Does any one have any experience to suggest if its possible to rent an RCI week you exchanged for, but can't use?

Possible but risky. It's against RCI's rules and they can suspend your account and other mean and nasty things.

There are some threads here that address your issue.

Ill-eagle like in sick bird.

Worst case you lose week, RCI membership is suspended, rentee is an attorney and when denied access to resort sues you!

Cancel and salvage what you can or give to drinking buddy for a marker!

If its a high profile location, like the Manhattan Club as an example, there is a higher risk. An ordinary exchange can usually be rented safely as long as it is a 1 time deal. If you rent multiple times, you chances of getting caught increase. Where you advertise you rental also increases your risk. If you can arrange a private rental without using the internet, you won't get caught.....
I have plenty of experience and I rented alot of exchanges before I was caught.... They did close my account and cancel pending reservations.....
