RCI Points Buying/Selling

I understand from reading the RCI "fine print" that it is illegal to transfer points from one person to another when there is a cost paid or received. And yet I see numerous ads for the sale of RCI points. Can anyone tell me if the policy from RCI is enforced? Is it possible to buy or sell RCI points without being penalized. If I was to give someone compensation for their unused points, will RCI know about this somehow and come after me or after the person who transferred them?

As per RCI rules your are not allowed to receive any money when you transfer points.

There is no way RCI knows if you have paid someone else some $$ for his points unless buyer or seller tells RCI. That's also why it's difficult to enforce. Honestly I don't think RCI cares that much.

Thanks for the reply Cybec. I called RCI to see if this rule is enforced and I could not get a straight answer. If anyone else has any experience with this I would appreciate hearing from you. Or, is there a name of a Realtor anyone could give me that I could give a call to to see if there is any issue?

If the transfer of funds were done quietly and personally, and SELDOM, it would likely be overlooked by RCI. However, if RCI noticed multiple transfers of points from ONE member to multiple members, they might block the transfer. However, once the points are in the recipients account- and or have been utilized to book an exchange (and RCI has their nearly $300 exchange fee), I can't see how the transaction can be undone.

It still seems a little risky to me.

I've received points from someone on TUG Marketplace a couple times. It was smooth and easy. There's at least one ad there now (for points only, not purchasing the deed).

Thanks for that info. We are trying to bridge the gap while we search for an addition to the meager RCI points we currently have and are just looking for a one time block of points so we can get some times booked for 2018. We have our eye on a few good properties, but as has been suggested many times, we are doing the due diligence and making sure.
