I have been reading that it is not that easy to get off property, so with that in mind, do they have a schedule of activites?

Also, do they offer excursions with transportation that is allowed to come into the resort? I had read that transportation from outside booked excursions are not allowed in.

If anybody has a activity schedule or listing of excursions with prices I would appreciate it.

Each level has a big board which shows the daily activities at their pools.

They also have activity sheets/or booklets when you check in so that you can see what is happening each day.

There will be a desk where you can schedule tours in the lobby area. Tulum, Xcaret, and Xhel-Ha are the ones we like best. We have done the Chichen Itza tour, but it makes for a long day. We like Tulum better because of the ocean views.

If you rent a car, rather than the bus tour to Xcaret which takes the "slow, long" route, there is a toll road which gets you there and back in much less time.

activities can be booked at resort for off property. transportation center can book taxis. easy to get around IMHO.

onsite there are boards/flyers with events/times.

Do you mean Chichen Itza instead of XCaret? There is no toll road that I am aware of between the Vidanta property and Xcaret that is just south of Playa del Carmen. It really isn't that far from the property.

My bad, I did mean Chichen Itza and not Xcaret. Thanks O245 for pointing that out!

tour to Chichen Itza is crazy long. Our day started @ 630am and ended at 945pm.... way to0 long a tour bus and once you are on you cannot leave! :) Never doing that tour again unless I drive and go on my own time.

I'd do Tulum knowing what I know now...

Coba and Tulum make a nice day tour. We used http://cancunmanny.com when we went in March to set up a day, and had a great time with him.

At Coba, they still let you climb up the pyramid (we did in Feb, 2016). I believe they stopped allowing climbers at Chichen Itza. But if you climbed Chichen Itza in the past, climbing Coba is tougher. It's a long walk to get to the pyramid. Lots of archeological structures at Coba and Tulum. Both are must sees.

We rented the bikes at Coba, which I would absolutely recommend. I climbed the pyramid half way, but I believe they were closing off access to it for good this year some time after we went.
