Points Question

I booked the Elara for this coming May. Are the points taken off my account at the time of booking? I see 2560 points available when I click on book a reservation, so is the Elara already deducted and that's my true balance? I'm trying to book another stay, but I don't want to use up my Elara points!

Points are taken when you make the reservation, you may be seeing next years points. When you log in the Points Available column on the right shows how many you have by year, right now mine is showing 2015, 2016, and 2017. If you are using them in RCI it lumps them together.

Thanks! I ended up calling HGVC. I was correct in assuming that the points available are those remaining AFTER my Elara points were deducted. Happy me.

FYI, just to clarify what @SmithOp said, points are taken out of the year the reservation is for, not the year when the reservation is made. So, if your stay is in 2016, it will come out of 2016 points, and you'll still have point this year. You would have to rescue 2015 points to use them in 2016.
