Hi all,

We are hoping to get some advice on trying to sell our timeshares. We own week 11 and 12 in the same unit in Orange Lake's North village (first floor unit). We have already paid both MF's and banked the weeks and we also have weeks banked from previous times we have not been able to go.

We would appreciate any input or ideas on how we can go about selling them at this point because they are going to waste without being used.

Thank you in advance!

Unfortunately very few Orange Lake Orlando units have any value beyond $1500 and most are worth less. Yours should have somewhere between $50 and maybe $1500 and the more you ask for the longer it will take to sell. You do have some extra value with the banked weeks. You could try listing on Redweek, the TUG marketplace and Craigslist.

Thank you for your input. At this point, even if I can recoup my MF's, I'd let them go. Is the TUG Marketplace more cost effective than Redweek?

It's definitely cheaper to advertise here on TUG than on RW. It's $15 for a TUG membership with the ability to post more ads than you will need. Red Week charges a $19 membership plus $60 for each For Sale ad. That being said, many people who have used RW have been happy with the results. Remember, it doesn't hurt (in fact it probably helps) to advertise in more than one place.

Hopefully I'm not saying this too late but do not pay any company a large, upfront fee to sell. There are countless TS resale scams out there and owners in Central FL (among other places) are quite ripe targets for scammers. Basically, if you get an unsolicited phone call claiming that this company can fetch you mega-bucks for your TS, then it is a scam.

I appreciate the response. I think I will go with TUG first as RW is pricier and can get even more expensive with their inclusive package as well. Hoping I can get maybe recover my MF's and just use other family members weeks when we vacation at Orange Lake. Thank you for the heads up on the companies looking for upfront fees.

I took the advice and posted the timeshare weeks on TUG. Great community and members are very helpful with the guidance.

If you don't get any offers, you might check and see if they will take the units back. You won't make anything, but could get out of the yearly maintenance fee for two units.
