Oahu Airport Transfers for 8?

We have friends taking a cruise out of Hawaii but staying on Waikiki first. They have a party of 8 including 8 large suitcases and I wondered what the best and easiest transportation option is or if it just makes sense to grab 2 taxis? TIA!

I like Star Discount Taxi. They're cheaper then everyone else and their cars and minivans are nice & clean. Rates from the airport are set and posted.

In contrast to Dave's expeience with Ilima, I had a bad one. Airport pickup van was dirty with slashed seats. Pickup at the hotel to go back to the airport was extremely late. That was my one and last time. Went back to Roberts Hawaii.

With eight people, I think it would be cheaper to take one or two taxis driving minivans or renting a van for a day than to take a shuttle van.

I'd take minivan cabs. The cruise ship port is about halfway from Waikiki to airport. So fares not too bad?? The cruise line will offer tour transfer to airport post cruise. Plenty of cabs too

About 10 years ago, we rented a car pre-cruise, and DH dropped off car a few blocks from port and walked back. But it was the only rental agency with an office near port. You'd have to research if there are rental dropoff locations nearby.

Sorry, Lin, if you had a bad experience with Ilima. Maybe I got lucky, as I had no issues. I'm sure the other options are likely just as good. With eight people plus luggage, it seemed like Ilima would be able to carry them all together.
