NYC help

We have an overnight layover in NYC before our trip to Dublin. We are landing at LaGuardia about 9:00 pm and our outbound flight will be from JFK the following evening - about 8:00pm. We would like to use our Marriott rewards points for a stay. Which Marriott would be centrally located for some daytime sightseeing but in a good location for our trip to JFK? Based upon our stay last year, we would prefer some place near Central Park, but we're open to other suggestions. We're planning on leaving our luggage at the hotel until we leave for JFK unless there is an alternative. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I did a search for a random night in March, and the Residence Inn New York Manhattan Midtown East came up at 35,000 points for the night. This one is pretty centrally located, at 148 East 48th Street.

Looking at this directory map, I would say anything in Manhattan (rather than an outer borough), OTHER than the Courtyard on the UES or the Courtyard Soho or the Courtyard WTC, would be quite accessible. Ideally you would want to be in the box between 23rd Street and 60th Street, between 8th Avenue on the west and let's say 3rd Avenue on the east.

Closest to Central Park would be the Courtyard Manhattan Central Park, at 54th and Broadway.

How are you planning to travel to JFK? Car service, public trans via subway/train or private bus/ shared van service? I wouldn't recommend public trans unless you are traveling with very light luggage. The mid-town east side area is most convenient for the private bus/ van services to JFK. The one hotel I would NOT recommend is the Lexington, autograph collection on Alex in he high 40's. We hav stayed there a couple of times during snow storms (work in NYC) and just don't understand how this place rates as a high end Autograph collection. We're actually landing at LGA and leaving out of JFK the next day. (We need an overnight layover for sanity reasons, lol). We were planning on using Carmel Limo again - we had a positive experience last time - unless you have another suggestion? Thanks for the tips.

We used Carmel limo on our trip to NYC last year. Thought they were great. We'd definitely use them again.

Another vote for Carmel--we had a very good experience with them in July.

To JFK. If you want to save a few dollars and are all capable of carrying / wheeling your own luggage.
Take the E from the 7th avenue stop (stairs) or 59 (would be a b or D and a change on the same platform) then out to Jamaica and on to the air train.
That's a <$8 each ride to the airport that will be quick

Thank you - that's very helpful. I'll see how I do with packing, lol. Sometimes I pack light, and sometimes I don't I hate being one of those people on the train with the huge suitcase but sometimes you can't help it.
