Hello,
This weekend I returned to the Westin Desert Willow on an explorer (owner update) package. I purchased a Gold Plus resale on Ebay for this property approx 2 years ago for $1.00. During the presentation they offered to give me a credit for the explorer package ($1700) and give me a 19,000 credit for the Gold Plus resale I own. This brought the Platinum Plus price down to approx $20,500. I would now have 148,100 star options and be able to exchange via SVN.

My questions are: How does this deal sound?
How easy/Difficult is it to trade into other resorts, say Kaanapali in November?

Thank you for your help.

Joe

I would just buy 2 Br Platinum+ [WKV] resale for $12k for 148100 Staroptions. When you want to sell later on, you will get $12k back.

If you buy WDW for 20k today, it probably will be $1k tomorrow.

First off, welcome to TUG. I think there are easier and better ways to get the same amount of StarOptions and end up with somehting that retains its resale value. You can then simply attempt to give away your Desert Willow week for free if you no longer want it.

I would just buy 2 Br Platinum+ WLR resale for $12k for 148100 Staroptions. When you want to sell later on, you will get $12k back.

I think you meant WKV, Westin Kierland Villas a mandatory property, not WLR-Westing Lagunamar being voluntary. The former will retain its $12K value, the former wouldn't cost you that much and wouldn't retain as much.

and if you buy a 2Bd WKV Plat+ (148.1K SO) for $12K, please come back and let us know. I am still waiting to hear a Tugger that paid $14K.

Good luck.

A certain broker had two listed at $12.5K for sellers who wanted out fast. So $12K has somehow become the new normal.

I haven't heard of these going for less than $14K otherwise.

Which is ridiculously low for this property. Two bedroom platinum units rent for at least $2K over MF's, meaning they would have an ROI of a bit over 14% if purchased at $14K.

$2K over MFs would be about $3,500/wk or $500/night. Just curious, are you saying the company rents them out at this rate or that you have been able to rent one of your WKV units out at this rate?

We are getting $3,500 for our two bedroom Kierland for next month. We have received >$3,000 every year since 2012 with rents steadily increasing between then and now.

I purchased my Kierland for $12,000 two years ago. I got $4000 rental for this year, March 11 week.
