Heartbreaking. There is no power, water, cell service. People are scavenging for edibles/water/gas. It's really like starting over from a junk yard. Almost like Europe after WWII. This will need something like a Marshall Plan to rebuild.:bawl::bawl::bawl:

Its hard to tell from this highly produced dramatized video, including ominous background music, of the extent of the damage. It showed 3-5 buildings destroyed. I am sure it is many more.

As for those scavenging, its certainly sad. The keys are little blips in the ocean that were in the face of an incoming category 5 storm. All authorities and logic told inhabitants of the impending doom. But too many remained. They made their choice. Still very sad.

I didn't even watch the video. I guess I should have done a better job of posting the link. In the story there is a hyperlink to NOAA's website. You click that and it takes you to a Facebook like spot that says follow link. Click that. You land at NOAA. Increase the map size and you can take a look at Key West from the latest satellite pictures.

The area looks like an atomic bomb hit it. The Governor of Florida sure be priase for ordering everyone in the path of Hurricane Irma to evacuate. How many lives were saved by the mandatory evacuation ? Homes, automobiles, personal items can be replaced but the human life cannot be replaced.

NPR reported that approximately 25% of all structures in Key West were destroyed. That's going to be a massive rebuild.
