Mayan Properties Booking Restrictions

I have two weeks reserved through an RCI exchange at The Grand Mayan Riviera Maya in Playa del Carmen,Quintana Roo this coming February. I booked it a year ago.

Recently I noticed that Mayan now has a restriction on RCI that states: "You can ONLY book up to 2 units per calendar year with no more than 1 unit during HIGH season at ALL Mayan Properties". Since I will be there at high season my stay would violate this restriction.

When I made the exchange I'm sure this was not the policy.

Do I have a potential problem at check in? I did a chat on line with RCI and they did not really give a helpful answer.

Anyone had experience with this issue?

Thanks

The odds are that if you don't bring it up when you check in it won't be a problem, imo. What if you didn't notice the new rule ? I just don't see how this can be your problem when RCI accepted your money and Vida let them.

Date of change of rules - RCI -Mayan/ Vidanta

the change to the current rules from the prior (1 in 3 per property etc ) was June 2016 .

Since you booked well before this - it is probably not a problem .

As a point of reference -(recently) - ll exchanges into Vidanta's Grand Luxxe ( and other brands ) had a $$ change in the weekly resort fee (charged to exchangers)
TUG members who had booked prior to the change have posted that they were charged the prior /old rate .

FYI < Grand Luxxe is listed with ll but not RCI >

.

I have also 2 reservations for high season in July. I'm traveling with family, they are staying in the 2nd unit. If I buy a guest certificate from RCI will I avoid this problem, or don't bother since RCI took both reservations?

I have two consecutive week trades that were booked in June of 2016. Never heard anything from RCI, in fact they found the exchanges. Mine are for late Jan and early Feb., 2017. On my RCI account all looks good to go. Also paid a bundle at that time for point extension, insurance, etc.
