We have an II exchange next month into a one bedroom. Marriott already sent a message about our stay. Does this mean we will have an ocean front view? Which building should we request?

Accommodation Type: 1 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Suite - Ocean Front View – OFTM (*No full kitchen)

If it's a kitchenette, it's in one of the older buildings, not Lahaina or Napili. From another thread here, here is a picture that's going to show you the possibilities. There are only a few 1-bedroom ocean front units. Either the Molokai or Lanai towers. Since Molokai has higher floors, seems if you're going to request that's the best choice.

I would ask for the Molokai tower if I were you. We stayed on the third floor once and the view is nice even on the third floor where the 1 BR condos start according to this brochure. The Lanais are very nice in the original towers!

We stayed in a corner unit once that was a lock-off unit so had a side view too that made it very special on the third floor but the ocean view should be the same so very good too for you.

The Lanai tower may have more palm trees in front that may block some ocean view plus the restaurant is right below you with music playing but not too loud so shouldn't be a problem, IMO. We always enjoy the music when we go to the restaurant unless we get a table right next to the musician.

Your unit is the 1BR portion of a 2BR Ocean Front unit. As mentioned above, I would also request the Molokai tower.

just to note that this was a great exchange - particularly if the view is honored!

I was booked in an OceanView in MOC via II exchange a few weeks ago and we were given an Ocean View - but probably one of the poorer OV rooms available - but it looks as if there are NO poor OF 1 bedrooms, and you should receive an excellent room! - I would suggest the Molokai too and hope you have a wonderful stay.

My thanks to all of you. I haven't been to Hawaii in about 15 years. We're really looking forward to visiting Maui.
Btw, I found this on II about 4 AM.

It won't bother us that much if we get a garden view. I was only surprised that Marriott actually sent the email advising us of our possible unit location. That didn't come from II. Also, the email came more than a month before the check in date, which we usually get from Marriott a few weeks before the date.

This year was the first time that I can recall receiving that very same email for our MOC units, personally. Like you said, we usually just get the one notice a few weeks before arrival.
