I wonder if they will ever get a revised assessment on prop tax

Yes, the owners of multi million dollar villas on the hill including Kaanapali Golf Estates are upset about how this project will impact their view and property values.

Here is a more recent article with a somewhat crappy map of the proposed development. Looks like everything makai of the highway is going to be changed in some way. It'll be sad to see the area across from the Westin Maui turned into a hotel & shopping center, but I guess that's progress.

That would be a drag to go from a golf course view to a parking lot view!

There have been a few golf courses in our area that have closed and then the land has been sold, and the developers try to use the land for fairly dense housing units. It makes me leery about purchasing a house on a golf course in the future.

I considered buying a condo at the Ka'anapali Royal a while back. This sounds like it will really spoil their views. I'm glad I didn't follow through.

Funny how they think all this new development will spur a resurgence in golf play, while admitting everything that has been tried up to now has failed.

Golf courses are as overbuilt as timeshares in Orlando or Vegas.

I used to play on vacation in Hawaii but it got too damn expensive with fees to take my clubs, or fees to rent clubs, on top of green fees over $100 a round. I play twice a week here in SoCal for a local senior weekday rate of $13 walking.
