Hi, I have just called Interval to deposit a new resort in my account. They said $39 dollars to add it Or if I extend my membership $89 dollars. I chose to pay $39 because I am trying to get away from exchange companies. Too many fees. Anyone else?

I always extend my membership, lol. Mine goes out to 2021 now. I must stop buying new timeshares :D

I find the best options in Interval for some reason, so I don't mind paying their exchange fees.

Yep, I've started moving away from the exchange companies. It helps that I own with Hilton and Marriott and that both allow me to exchange internally. We do own a couple of resorts not affiliated with a larger group that allows internal exchanges but, those weeks we have always used ourselves.

There is one exchange we'll make EOY but, I can do that using our corporate Marriott account with I.I. So we're down to 1 external exchange every other year. We dropped our personal RCI account years ago. The personal account with have with I.I. will go the same way when our membership expires. That will leave us with a corporate account in RCI through Hilton and a corporate account through I.I. with Marriott. We haven't used the corporate account with RCI in over 10 years and I don't see us ever using it again. The ONLY reason we'll exchange thru I.I. is I can exchange back into a resort we own at, and we own at that resort ONLY because it allows owners to bring their dogs, even as exchangers. If not for that we'd stay at the Marriott in Breckenridge and I wouldn't be paying I.I. any exchange fee's past whatever they get from Marriott to run their internal exchange program.

I agree, the exchange fees have gotten ridiculous. I dropped RCI several years ago and only have my corporate account through shell with interval but don't usually deposit shell points, we use them. Other than that I have been using TPI, HTSE and Platimum as needed. I did buy a prime membership through TPI this year because it saved me enough on upgrade fees to justify it but usually I just use the free membership.

Ditto. I try and wait until I have at least 2 to 3 new units to add. It's $39 per unit, or the one renewal fee to add as many as you have. 3 or more and it's cheaper to extend. My next adds I need to extend Platinum since regular is 2021 but Platinum is 2018. Most reps will allow a Platinum extension but a few won't so if I get one of those I hang up and call back.

With floating units you don't have to keep adding more for the same resort code if you don't want to but with fixed units you are forced to add the specific unit.
