Through Costco Travel I can get a rental car from either Avis or Budget. I have also been considering Paradise Rental Car. (They are $80 higher but include insurance with a deductible, of course and no fee for extra drivers) Have any of you rented from Costco? Did you like Avis and Budget?

+1 for Avis. If you take a cab from the airport to the Seabourne location it'll save you $100.

Thanks for the suggestion. After checking Avis' website I found that at the airport you have to prepay to get the best deal. (Which I would rather not do) At Seabourne you don't have to prepare. I also took into account that Avis charges $10 for each extra driver.

It worked out for me that I'm better with Costco because I don't have to prepay, don't have to take a taxi ride, and I'm only paying Costco $8 more. - $320 for an intermediate car with 3 drivers vs Seabourne location. I'm not an Avis preferred. Don't know if that makes a difference in price.

Thanks for your replies. I have an Avis reservation for an intermediate size car through Costco arranged but may change to a smaller Toyota Corolla if no one joins us. From what I've read the streets are narrow and some are steep so maybe it would be easier to handle a smaller car especially since we will be driving on the left hand side of the road. Would you rather have a smaller car in ST Thomas?

We normally get a compact. Easier to park and maneuver. We got upgraded to a SUV one year and used twice as much gas.

I would get the smallest car that will accommodate your needs. There is no need for an SUV unless you need the room. If you get lucky they'll give you a car with lots of dents and scratches. You will appreciate that when you park in CA.
Where/What is "CA"?
