So after purchase re sale points in June of last year (yes that is correct) I have points and a member number. The good news is that in those long months I have been studying the system like crazy. I am left with one question ( ok probably more than one, but one for right now)that I am betting you covered in previous thread. If so could someone point me to it?

QUESTION:
From time to time I have seen people posting about limited time "deals". Does one find those on the RCI exchange? or where do I hunt down those great deals?

Thanks for all the guidance!

Last Minute Rentals thread is a rental thread for reservations which the owners can not use ... like vacation week was cancelled by work, sick child or parent, school schedule conflict, etc. These should NOT BE exchanges via RCI or II .. as the resort or the exchange system has the RIGHT to boot a renter out or deny you access.

RCI does have close to check date reduction sometimes .. YOU have to look for them, I beleive.

Call and ask a VC or owner care to have your RCI account set up and have it expedited. When you have your Wyndham membership set up online click on my membership. Then click on RCI external exchanges. That will get you into RCI.

There used to be a link on the website to discounted Wyndham reservations. It's been gone for a while now.

The cynic in me says that Wyndham is renting these last minute vacancies now instead of offering us discounts

It sounds like the specials that were being talked about were on RCI as others above have suggested. They offer rental sales from time to time as well as last minute specials. Log in to your own account at RCI.com where the banner rotates various advertisements for offers. Doing a search for resorts after logging in gives the option of looking by exchange deposits, extra vacation rental, etc. Note that the special sales and last minute offers are rentals, not using your Wyndham points.

Anyone have guidance on how to best search for available reservations? We are usually flexible in dates and length of stay so I am hoping there is a way to just pick a resort and see what is available for the year?Glacier Canyon in June and July is gone?

I think it's very unlikely that you would find Glacier Canyon for June or July online at this point, never mind at a discount. I just checked in the Wyndham system and there isn't anything at Glacier Canyon for June or July except a two-day reservation in a 1-bedroom starting June 1st.

Are you able to access RCI?

There is a radio button option in the search criteria that says "First Available" which is not limited by date criteria.

Once you select the resort name and specified number of nights wanted, unit size, etc then the "First Available" option will drill down the search. I often use this option when searching for specific unit size when that is the more critical criteria over a date window.
