Hola! I have ATT with "Roam Mexico" which supposedly lets me call between Mexico and the US. I'm trying American, 1-800-433-7300. Doesn't work, probably because AA's toll free doesn't cover calls from out of the US. The Mexican toll free number 01-800-904-6000 disconnects.
I can't find a non-toll-free US number for American.
help please :hi:

"This number does not accept toll free calls from outside the united states. if you wish to be connected you will be charged direct dial international rates"

An ATT chat agent says I won't be charged.....I saved a copy just in case.
But now it isn't working, I can't get through to 800-433-7300 with 00, 001, 011.....none of those

Do you have a wifi connection? If so, what about changing the setting on your phone to enable wifi calling? Then you won't be roaming.

Check to see what service you are connected to. Telcel is the one I try first. I used to use ATT and my Iphone didn't automatically go to any particular service provider unless I chose one. To call home you can just dial. To call Mexico you sometimes need to dial country code 52 plus the 10 diget phone number. You need to add the number 1 after the 52 and before the 10 digit number to call a Mexican cell phone.

For your toll free number you need to dial 880 instead of 800 according to google.

1-800-433-7300 is 001 880 433-7300

For international calls, Skype is easy and cheap. Setting up an account is free, and you can call anywhere in the world for pennies, if you have a WiFi connection. I've found it's easier calling home to the U.S. than trying to call on my Verizon phone.

On my iPhone, there is a setting (Dial Assist) that automatically puts the correct codes to dial US IF the number is in my address book. I have the dickens of a time calling by just inputting the number. So, I put the number in the address book and then call it and it works. I learned that last year when I needed to call some folks from Puerto Vallarta.

When we were in Mazatlan in June, I was surprised to see Mexico AT&T instead of Telcel or MovieStar. There were AT&T stores everywhere.

I had similar problem in February. Resolved problem by looking in the local phone book in villas master bedroom drawer where it had a list of local phone numbers for most of the airlines. I was using United Airlines and called from the room, the person answered in Spanish and I asked if they spoke English and they did. Took care of my flight changes with no problems.

Could you tell us how you resolved your problem, good to see you're still around.
