Due to financial issues between 2009-2015, we let Wyndham foreclose on our deed in 2014 (for late MFs). We owe nothing to them, thankfully, and no sign of it on our credit reports. Anyway, we're looking into getting back into it. Ignoring purchase price, which is the best cost/benefit, HICV Orange Lake (Orlando) or Wyndham? My in-laws own Orange Lake, and so does a mutual friend/couple. My wife and I have stayed at East Village 2-bedroom, so we know the amenities. We have also stayed at Wyndham Bonnett Creek and Ocean Walk. Basically, is a 1 (or 2) bedroom OL East Village cheaper or more expensive than a 1 bedroom deluxe at WBC or WOW? And does OL do points or fixed week?

Thanks

HICV Orange Lake (Orlando) or Wyndham?... And does OL do points or fixed week?
I can partially answer this. I am not a Wyndham owner.
HICV Florida units will usually have higher maintenance fees than other comparable HICV properties. HICV has both points and weeks. Look for resales in Myrtle Beach, Gatlinburg or Lake Geneva for units with points that are transferable. Other HICV locations do not transfer points, units become 'weeks only' on resale. Generally speaking, Las Vegas has the best $/point maintenance fee although different season/size/location units elsewhere can also be pretty good. If you can get $5/1K you're doing very very well, $6 to $7/1K is pretty good. Points can be used to book anywhere in the group, weeks can be booked only in the resort they were purchased from but can often be traded for different time periods depending on season/size/location.
HICV now has 2 dozen properties and also allows RCI access (RCI points are 50% of HICV points) as well as II if you own Williamsburg.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with HICV.

While looking through Orange Lake sales on eBay, I found a West Village Week 7 (Valentines Week) for $743/year MF, and an East Village Week 18 for $934. When converted to RCI Points ($200 I believe), because they are both RED WEEK, do they trade/convert the same? I know there is a limit on how many years they can be traded, which is fine, we LOVE Orange Lake and would gladly use those weeks.

Thanks!

I think the quote you got on maintenance fees of $743 does not include Property Taxes. I think both weeks will be around the $930 after fees and taxes yearly.

Actually, I went to SumdayVacations and got a Week 17 East Village where their closing company PAYS ME $250 once the transfer is complete! They have several more OL weeks where they're paying $250 to take the week's!

Only a few resorts through HICV actually allow resales to be converted to the HiCV Points club. So if it is points you want, do your homework.

I do not remember the names of the resorts that resales count as points without a direct purchase.

So Buyer beware here if you want point, you want fixed week, your good to do.

Sandy is correct - these units might be a good deal if you want the fixed weeks (assuming the maintenance is less than you'd pay for renting the week) , but they will not give points. The resale points resorts are Lake Geneva, South Beach, and Smoky Mountain.

Well, apparently HICV Orange Lake is exercising ROFR for a lot of resales. A lady on the Facebook group lost her $5 week to ROFR and they took mine in ROFR this past week. I guess HICV wants more and more resales so they can sell them for $20,000 (pure profit to the sales weasels).

We may try a January (low demand) suite at OL, or buy another HICV resort in 2018 instead of Orange Lake (as long as it is $0 Closing/transfer).
