I was wondering if anyone can tell me about this timeshare. I live pretty close to this timeshare. About an hour away. We go to Lake Geneva every year. I've heard that if you own a timeshare here through resale that you can inherit the points that go with it. Some resales say for example 2 bedroom lockout with 130000 points. Will the new owner be able to keep those points if they weren't bought from the developer. Secondly would those points be additional to your week at Lake Geneva. A little confused how it works. Finally can you split that lake Geneva week into 2 weekends instead of one week. What's the best way to get in the point system through resale. I thought HICV was it through three resorts.

Lake Geneva is one of the HICV resorts where all reservations are through the HICV points system, including resale purchases. The number of points you get is equal to the cost to book your ownership, so you have to use your points to book your owned week. Individual day costs are 25% per weekend night and 10% for other days, so a one week ownership would get you 2 2-night weekend stays. This resort has reasonable maintenance and is a good way to get into the program - $5.50/1K points annual maintenance is a good average price, and you could consider anything from these resorts from $4.50-$6.50/1K points in annual maintenance.

Thanks, Scott. Happly New Year. That's exactly what I was hoping for. When looking for resales in Lake Geneva. How do you know if it's a summer week. Most resales don't say if it's a summer week. It just says floating. I've seen some MF''s for only 100.00 and some as much as 1000.00.

Happy New Year!

Lake Geneva deeds don't have a week or season - just points. A 2BR peak stay (WK25-WK36) is 244K HICV points, which equals 19.52K Marcus club points on the deed. Maintenance at this resort is in the $5.00-$5.60/1K range for every unit I have ever seen, so you are looking at $1220-$1370 in maintenance, which will be the same whether you buy one large 244K unit or 5 small 50K units. I've seen units as small as 15K points with maintenance in the $84 range, but that will only get you half a weeknight in this size/season. This resort has a separate $29 annual membership fee (per account and not per deed), which sometimes throws off maintenance calculations.
