We always try to tip fairly. The people work so hard. So know how much to tip maids, etc. just wonder if any gratuity is in included in meal, drink prices. I believe at one time it was, and we just added a little extra. Otherwise, we'll be sure to always add 20 to 25% for good service like we do at home.

In Nuevo, they do not include the tip on meals or drinks, so use you best judgement. We really prefer to give the server the tip and not add it onto the tab.

As for housekeepers, we tip depending on the number of bedrooms or people who are staying. I think that we did 50 pesos per bedroom last time, so they got $100 pesos (about $5 USD) per day. They have very little to do in our unit as I have to make myself not make the bed each morning and they have so many towels available and we only use one each per day. We wash our dishes and put them away each day too.
