Took me awhile but I finally purchased one of these things. I've closely followed the discussions on the Amazon Echo threads over the last year, and have to say that I regret waiting so long!

The main reason I chose Home over Echo was because of the Google Play music service. I'm sure either one is a good choice.

Why do I like it? I enjoy listening to my music by voice command, and the podcasts. Yes, I could do everything with my phone, but it's just so much less hassle with this thing.

Hi Ace,

Well, yesterday I went to Best Buy and purchased an Amazon Echo. When I got home my wife said you purchased what? and You Paid how much? I told her to save her comments and wait until I set it up. After she played some music by voice command she said she "loved it" and why did I wait so long to buy it.

I must admit that I too love listening to music by voice command. Haven't tried podcasts yet.

Enjoy your home - I think they're both good choices.

Best regards,

Richard

One more note to add... I added the Chromecast Audio to my stereo downstairs and now we're set up to play our music throughout the house. I can tell Google Home to cast to a specific speaker or all speakers with simple voice commands. This is a nice bonus and it was very easy to set up.

Other features that I discovered with the Amazon Echo - if you have an Amazon Kindle Fire with the latest operating system installed - you can activate your Amazon Echo with your Kindle Fire while in another room. Also Amazon Echo will read eBooks you have downloaded on your Kindle Fire and resumes from where it left off. Although I would prefer to listen to the readers from Audible rather than the Alexa reader.

Pretty neat technology.

Couple of new developments on my Google Home setup. I just discovered yesterday that my Sony sound bar has the google cast built in - which means I don't need the Google Audio adapter and I don't have to leave the sound bar turned on. Now, I can direct the music or radio to the upstairs sound bar (which sounds great by the way) or downstairs stereo, or both.

Right now, it's all about the music and podcasts. I think the TV voice control or the thermostat control will be the next big feature for me. Looking for the next decent sale on Nest. I'm now a believer in this home automation stuff and searching for some decent stocks to target accordingly.
