Just want to be sure I do this correctly... We want to go back to Orlando, prefer after Christmas but I guess because it is expiring on Dec 31st, that isn't possible. SVV shows 16th though 23rd. What is the best way to book that, just call them?

When I tried to look at short stays I couldn't see past October, why is that?

Its cheaper if you do it online.

It's actually not cheaper if you do it online, but it sure is easier. They did away with the online discount.

You don't have to expire on 12/31. As long as you don't have a corporate account you can add E-Plus. E-Plus will give you an extension of a year from the exchange check-in date plus give you three free retrades. You can then retrade for Orlando after Christmas.

Exchange for something as close to your expiration as possible for the longest E-plus expiration. Or exchange for what you want and then choose whether to retrade.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm enrolled so I didn't know about the change.

You can extend the expiration date for a fee, and do an ongoing request versus looking with eplus.

I also think that an extension will also restrict the deposit to 59 day checkin availability only. Thus, when you do extend, you won't be able to put in an OGS since you can't put those in for searches inside of flex.

Short stays are a smaller subset of what is available. It may be a while before they extend the window. Also just because you see something as a regular exchange doesn't always mean that it will be available as a short stay. A third (more expensive option) besides eplus and extension is to book something as far out as possible and then cancel just before the 60 day mark and get a replacement week that will be good for one year from the cancellation date. You would be able to add eplus to the extension week as well. This would cost a full exchange fee and could not be done with a short stay although it could be used after eplus if desired.

I agree with others that it seems ePlus is the best way to extend the life of the deposit. Make an exchange for as late as you can for this year to any property any unit size equal to or smaller than your deposit. You might even want to consider outside of Orlando in the event that those holiday weeks have limited availability but do keep it Vistana to Vistana to get the exchange fee discount. Add ePlus to the exchange and then you will have a new expiration date of one year after the checkin date of your confirmed exchange. Then at least 60 days before the exchange is for this year, retrade it to somewhere else, perhaps even your desired exchange. Total cost would be the exchange fee (I think it is $139 for Vistana to Vistana) plus $59 for ePlus. Much better deal than paying to extend a deposit and fewer restrictions.
