Sorry I know this has been covered but I am still lost....

So I know I will be short points this year and I can borrow from next year once I am within that window. Problem is if I am not in that window that allows me to borrow. So can I credit pool my 2018 and 2019 points and use them now? Believe I can but not 100% sure.

Reading the book it seems like they can only be used in the future. If I pool them now do I face a possiblty of if they roll out the new system I wont be able to use my 2018 points till 2019?

If I do both at the same time am I charged $39 for each year?

I believe I read this right but if I pulled my points I would not be able to use them in RCI. I am on a CWA.

Sorry for you having to answer these newbie questions but hopefully I can soon educate myself enough to help others.

Yes, you can pool those years now for immediate use. You are charged per Use Year, so $39 x 2. You can not move pooled points to RCI.

As to what will happen if and when they roll out a new system, no one here can provide any definitive answer.

Thanks guess I will just pull the one year now and see if that works for me.

Sorry one last question. When it comes to renting points I know you can only rent up to the amount of your contract. So if I need to rent points lets say in 2018 and pooled all my points, can I still rent points since the contracted number of points do not change. Really stupid question but with Wyndhams system figured I better ask.

That is the appearance but not the reality of the existing site. Sometimes a credit pool year start date is in the future but it actually the current date to the end date. The new preview system has fixed this. Go to the Wyndham preview site and click on the points section. It should show your points correctly. The regular and credit pool features are working.

I think renting is $8 per 1k points. So 100k points would cost $800. Not worth it.

Totally respect your opinion but if I needed 10k or 20k and could not borrow anymore the $8 per 1k could be worth it. Guess another way to look at it, if i am paying $6.15 for my MF on the points, I am reallly only paying the difference. So borrowing 10k only costs me $18.50 more then if I had the points already. Even if I had a special occasion and needed the 100k in points that is $185 more then my MF. Yep I could buy another resell but what if I did not want to keep paying MF on those points every year. Just looking at it that way.

So I guess the question still remains, if I credit pool all my points and run out, am I still able to rent within that window for the following year. Example credit pull off of 2018 and 2019 now. Come Nov 2018 I am trying to make a reseveration for Christmas in 2018, can I rent points from Wyndham still?

I agree that a small amount of points is worth it. Especially if it's cheaper then credit pooling. One thing to consider, if you are considering paying a lot for renting is, is it cheaper to pay for the room with cash? That may not be a viable option during prime season, but off season may be cheaper to pay with cash. Obviously Christmas is usually prime season in a lot of cases, so renting points would be a cheaper option. I would never recommend buying another contract just to get the extra points. Aside from the extra MF, you could still have to pay closing and transfer fees depending on what you buy. Not an economical option.

I want to say that the answer to your question is yes. I think it was something like you cannot rent points unless you were within 60 days of your checkin. I am not an expert though. Neither is a VC but they might be able to give you more accurate info if they have the answer documented somewhere.

You need to be more specific on what you are trying to do.

If you have pooled credits, you won't be able to rent any points until your pool is completely exhausted. Even then, if you are outside 90 days from check-in, you can only rent enough extra points to complete the last night of the reservation. If you are within 90 days, then you can rent as many points as needed to make the booking.

The cost to rent depends on the timeline as well. Outside of 90 days, is is $10/1000 points. Inside 90 days, it is $10/1000 points if booked with a rep, but $8/1000 points if booked online.

During ERP, you can also borrow points from your next use year.
