Hello Tuggers,

I am looking to see what the difference is between the non-AI Royal Resorts in Cancun.
I have read the review and cant figure out which property is best for us.

Royal Caribbean
Royal Cancun
Royal Islander

Thank you

The Royal Cancun is closer to downtown. The water at the beach is not as rough as at the RC and RI. IMHO the RI and the RC are much nicer than the Royal Cancun. I also like their location better.
Thank you for the reply. Are there any obvious differences between R Carb and R Islander? Not sure which one to choose.
Thanks again

The Caribbean is about 5 years older that the Islander other than some decorating colors the villas are pretty much the same. The layout of the buildings and the facilities are slightly different, but since you get to utilize everything in each resort I would go for the best rental deal you can find. You can't go wrong with either of these two resorts.

WE own week 1 at the Islander, since 2003, and have never had a bad experience there.

Pretty much what Urban 5 said. Not sure if the Royals still have the Cancun shuttle which would allow you to take the shuttle bus between the resorts. I always preferred the tri royals (now just 2) to the Sands and the Royal Cancun (formerly Vacation Club International) was a nice place to stay or visit as well. One of the most important choices may be the view from the actual unit you rent.

I agree with all that - only one caveat.
The Royal Cancun is less crowded which is a BIG difference from RCarib and RIslander that IMO are overcrowded in February to April. All are good though.

Yes. As of Feb. of this year (when we visited), the shuttle bus which takes you from one Royal resort to another was still available.
