Two weeks ago my spreadable cheese (for cheese and crackers lunch on the plane) was confiscated. :bawl: If you want to bring cheese, I was told it has to be solid.

If bringing in a carry-on you are allowed cheese in pressurized container IF it's 3 oz. or less. The list doesn't mention any other form of cheese. See http://www.tsa.dhs.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm#4

I bet the agent that grabbed your cheese wanted it for himself and was wrong. :) Seems that any food allowed must be 3 oz. or less, however.

Kona coffee!

We bring pre-ground coffee from Peet's. Last summer we brought a pound of regular and a half pound of decaf for our two week trip (yes, we like coffee a lot).

It is the height of irony that Kona coffee costs a third less in California than in Hawaii.

Pineapples are also much cheaper here, but they don't travel well.

Are you talking about buying 100% Kona coffee in CA for a third less than in Kona? Are you sure it's not a blend? What do you pay & where do you buy it?

Peet's sells Kona coffee for $24.95 a 1/2 pound which is double the cost you pay in Kona. http://www.peets.com/shop/coffee_list.asp?cid=100&range=IL
