Why my Cape Cod Estates 2-BR timeshare is only worth about two-thirds of the points it was just five years ago. It means I don't have enough points to get a 1BR week on the Cape in the summer? Yes, my week is beginning of Oct. but, as I said, it was worth more before the point system made it necessary for me to pay an ADDITIONAL fee to combine with other leftover points. Who is keeping track that RCI is not screwing with the values to nickel and dime us up the kazoo?? Thanks, Patty!!

As long as enough owners deposit (for lower points) to meet the demand and as long as they have people willing to pay the higher fees for the summer weeks than RCI will keeping adjusting. I think the original terms of the lawsuit are done and over and the only thing keeping RCI in check is the market demand as they perceive it.

A very astute and absolutely correct observation, IMO. It really should be expected that RCI will always look out for RCI first (and second), continually contriving and implementing whatever "adjustments" they can get away with, whether "adjustments" to points, internal practices, fees --- or all of the above.
Fairness has never been a word in RCI's vocabulary and it certainly isn't today. In the final analysis, RCI is a for-profit business (not a magnanimous "service") --- and yet those customers just keep on coming and they keep on paying and praying.

I personally miss supporting and / or dealing with RCI just about as much as I miss my last root canal at the dentist. YMMV.

Owners of Cape Cod summer weeks(by and large) do not deposit or convert to points, they use or rent. So, no amount of points or off season deposits will get a Cape Cod summer week.

This is why it is best to own for the time you want to go every year. And this is one reason why I never converted to points.

I guess I am lucky that I was able to get the week after Labor Day for next year on the Cape- my 2 bedroom late Oct. week in Vermont for a one bedroom on the Cape- through a small independent exchange company.

What is the independent company?

I used Trading Places for this one. I

In the past I have also used DAE for exchanges. I also belong to Platinum Interchange and RTX- I have just the free memberships with all of them and I just search them all until I find something.

We don't exchange anymore but I am still curious --- have you observed any significant or perceptible changes in available TPI inventory in recent months --- specifically in the aftermath of VRI*ety and TPI essentially "merging" into a single exchange entity in 2016?

Honestly, no, I have not. I think they always had pretty much the same inventory and they were separate entities in name only. The time before this when I exchanged it was a bit confusing because of the fact that I had two accounts- one with VRI and one with TP. So I was told I had to use a different email address for VRI for that reason. Now I am listed with two accounts in the TP system, which doesn't really matter at this point.
