Bern, Switzerland and Copenhagen next fall

My daughter is getting married next fall in the US and she and her fiance are having a blessing of their wedding and small reception in a village outside of Bern, where her fiance grew up and his father still lives. This will be in mid October. I see no timeshares anywhere near the area so am looking for lodging recommendations.

We will also be going to Copenhagen to stay with friends and am unsure if we should fly or take the train from Switzerland to Copenhagen. We think we will be gone two weeks. There is a possibility we might take Icelandic Air and have a stop-over in Iceland. We will be flying out of Portland, Oregon. I am still not sure if we would go to Copenhagen before or after the wedding. We have not been to Europe in 23 years, or to Switzerland in almost 40 years when we spent three months traveling when we were in college. I do not think we will rent a car. We are still in the very early planning stage for this trip.

Any suggestions or advice very welcomed !

Bern is a quick train ride from Zurich. I would fly from Zurich or Basel (likely cheaper) to cph. Buy Swiss tickets even the night before online to save up to 50%.

I stayed in Malmo Sweden when visiting Copenhagen, a short commuter train ride across the sound and a lot cheaper accommodations.
