Hi Tuggers!
DH and I are going on a cruise to Bermuda soon. Not a timeshare vacation, celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. We went to Bermuda on our honeymoon, but have not been back since. Anyone been to Bermuda recently? Are there any suggestions of where to go and what to do while in Bermuda? Getting excited about the trip. We don't snorkel or scuba dive.
Thanks in Advance for your advice.

What to do depends on when you will be there. We will be on a Bermuda cruise 20-27 May. Bermuda Day is the 24th. We will be there for that. The America's Cup starts up just after we leave. Wish we had more time.

We stayed in St. George's in December 2015. The Ghost Tour was entertaining. We walked all over seeing what the town has to offer. We also participated in the dunking of the wench next to the St. George's visitor center. Away from town, the Caves are nice. We also self-toured the Botanical Gardens, which were rather bleak in December. We'll try them again this coming visit.

We'd suggest that you ask at a Visitor Center for the Brochure that lists all the guided tours given by locals and see if any appeal to you. We took the Hamilton tour, the Royal Naval Dockyard tour, and a flora and fauna tour. There are many others.

there's so much to do. I assume you'll have 1 semi day, 1 full day, 1/2 day and leave. If so, on the full day, take the ferry to St George, take in the historic sights and walk (or taxi) over to tobacco bay and then take the ferry back. You can also take a taxi or bus to the underground caverns and then a bus back to the port or a bus to Hamilton and then ferry back to the port. Since you're docked, it doesn't really matter when you get back to the ship or if you miss the last ferry (you can take the bus thru the island). We stayed for a week and used buses all over--it's about 1 hour from StG to the port via bus--a delightful "pooman's" island tour, IMHO. Horseshoe bay beach get VERY crowded. Go a bit farther to Elbow beach--just as gorgeous and only a handful of people when we went. Buy at drink at the Elbow beach hotel beach bar and use their very nice bathrooms. you can also rent a cabana from them for around $150 or so. on the departure day, go to the fort, shops, etc. right at the port, so you can just walk back over to get on the ship. for the 1st day, maybe go into Hamilton via ferry and walk around a bit. We LOVED Bermuda.

Thanks Elaine. We finish a Trans-Atlantic cruise in Bermuda in the Fall of '17. Southhampton to Boston (overnight) then overnight in Manhattan then overnight in Bermuda before disembarking in Miami. We're looking forward to it.
