Sure. Just request that your reservations for both units be linked by member services. I do this all the time. Why not get a grand villa. The ones at AKV are really incredible.

I think most of the GV's go pretty fast when the booking window opens.

Just remember even though you put in the request, its still only a request and not guaranteed.

AKL is Animal Kingdom Lodge (mixed units but most are cash rentals which is why MOST of the dining is available in that building) ... AKV is Animal Kingdom Villas (all timeshares with full kitchens).

Yes, you can walk between the 2 ... takes about 10 minutes or so.

AKL is Animal Kingdom Lodge (mixed units but most are cash rentals which is why MOST of the dining is available in that building) ... AKV is Animal Kingdom Villas (all timeshares with full kitchens).

it's confusing but the old AKL is now called Jambo House. The DVC villas are all on the 5th floor with a few club level units on the 6th floor, so those rooms on the 5th and 6th floors are owned by AKV owners. The newer building is Kidani Village and yes, it's all DVC villas and can also be booked by AKV owners. While AKV owners own a percentage of the villas at either Jambo House or Kidani Village specifically (and any booking is made specifically for one building or the other), it's all really AKV.

But if the OP books at Jambo House, at least they would be on the same floor (5th).

We have stayed at Kidani Village a couple times but we only needed a 2 bedroom those times. We have since added 2 grand babies and now I'm trying to figure out the best utilization of our points.....the easy answer is to buy more points LOL

It's the only way I will buy more. I can't justify direct pricing unless it was on a small 50pt contract. I'm thinking of adding around 150, or I could make the kids buy their own

ROFL at "tainted"...There are only a few restrictions on resale points:

On resale purchases since March 21, 2011 (prior purchases grandfathered):

• Cannot use resale points for Disney Hotels, Cruises, Adventures by Disney

On resale purchases since April 4, 2016 (prior purchases grandfathered):

• Do not get "Membership Extras", including:
  • Discounted AP
  • Merchandise and Food Discounts
  • Member-exclusive events

Otherwise, you can still use resale points for:

• DVC resorts
• RCI
• Club Cordial
• Club Intrawest

The 2011 restrictions weren't really valuable financially speaking -- more of a convenience factor. The 2016 restrictions can be significant -- e.g. The AP discount can save $200 per person per year (Gold AP only available to DVC members vs. Platinum AP), which can add up for a family of 4, for example. The food and merch discounts are the same as those available with an AP, so if you are an AP holder, the only difference is the savings on the AP. The member exclusive events are nice (e.g. we went to Typhoon Lagoon for free including snacks and drinks), however they are few, and far between -- just luck of the draw if one is being held during one of your trips.

One common practice is to buy resale then add on 50 points direct to gain the 2016 benefits (if you own any direct contract, you will receive the 2016 benefits).

You can buy as low as 25 points direct once you are a member.

Depends on which resort you are buying. Some are restricted to 50 point add-on officially, although YMMV

Only the ccv are restricted to 50 points that i have seen posted. Has anyone talked to a guide and found out for sure? I have no interest in ccv so have not talked to my guide.
