In a perfect world, I would schedule this vacation for some other time of the year but that just isn't in the cards this year. Having said that, and reading many existing suggestions we know we are going to have to pay attention to the heat. I thought I would start this thread in the hopes that others might post suggestions and I'll use this thread to document our trip here.

In searching the internet, I've found a good many web pages dedicated to hiking in ZNP. We plan on doing as many hikes as we can (and as the heat and weather will let us).

Even with this info, I can already fill our week with a bunch of hikes that would make a successful trip for us. We will probably do all of the easy hikes and try a few of the moderate ones if the weather allows.

At any rate, here we go...

The first time I was there was in July and it was over 100 daily. Stay hydrated and get an early start on your hikes. The park is VERY crowded and parking can be a challenge. We were there in March and they had already started daily shuttle service into the canyon. Enjoy!

I have been camping there in the hottest months. It's not pleasant but if you plan well then it's fine. Better in a timeshare, vacation rental, hotel or RV for sure. Just do all your hiking early in the day then find a pool for the afternoons.

That said, there's a huge fire right now in nearby Brianhead so you may have to reschedule.
