I don't think they had one last year.

Maybe it's gone the way of the 2-for-1 dining certificates.

Right, there wasn't one last year. Searching TUG, flyertalk and Marriott Insiders it doesn't appear to be available this year either. Prior to last year it was an every-year promotion, not EOY.

Only people that deal with timeshares!

In this case EOY stood for End Of Year. Only people immersed in timeshare lingo would read that as Every Other Year :hysterical:

Bummer, I'm going to Hawaii next year and I like the points I get from picking these up.

For years in Sept/Oct Southwest Air and Marriott offered a huge points promotion. Basically, buy a gift card and get ALOT of SW points for travel. If memory is correct, it was something like 10,000 points for a $500 gift card.

That also wasn't offered this year.

And yes....I was caught with EOY.....I was thinking why offer a promotion to only people that own every other year!!!!

Because of MVC separating from Marriott Hotels, I don't think you can use Marriott Gift Cards at MVC properties anymore.

Can anyone confirm? If not this might explain why there is no gift card specials anymore.

UPDATE the Marriott website says you can use the gift cards at MVC properties. The cover letter I got with the card did not mention MVC. All well, I will see what happens in October at MOC.

You can definitely use a Marriott gift card at any MVC.

Just wondering...
May we use Marriott Gift Cards to pay a portion of our Marriott Vacation Club annual maintenance fees?

While it was possible at one time using a work around, the type of card they used at the time no longer exists. So you can no longer use gift cards to pay MFs.

Yes I have been waiting for the Gift Card deal too. They used to offer 10% off in October. I always bought $1000 to use for our room expenses at the Surf Club & Aruba Marriott. Dinners at the hotel add up fast!
I miss those deals.
