Here are a few quotes from the article and FWIW, my personal comments:

"Restitution will be ordered later, prosecutors said." Frankly, I think that's a more suitable result than jail time although the additional jail time is not unwarranted.

"According to the indictment, timeshare owners each gave Vacation Ownership Group anywhere from a few thousand dollars to $40,000 to get out of their timeshare contracts.": Are people that desperate to get out of the contracts that they're willing to pay $40,000?!?! Wouldn't it be cheaper to just pay off the mortgage and then offer to give it away to a new owner? It could also be an indictment of how bad the TS industry is (in some parts anyway) where people are saying "Here's $40,000. Pleeeeease get rid of this for me."

"Victims...included business executives, veterans and senior citizens.": That's quite the range of victims. One would think that savvy business execs would have a little more sense than that. OTOH, maybe they felt that the fees paid to VOG were chump change and that it wouldn't be worth their time to pursue cancellation of their contracts so get someone else to do it for them.

The photo is funny ... at least to me ....

as it shows the northern end of the Atlantic City island with the clear profile of the deflunked Revel Casino & Hotel.

Camden City (where the Federal court for this case was heard) is due WEST down the Atlantic City Expressway onto the North-South Freeway (Rt 42)... about 75 miles due west. The Walt Whitman Bridge is the END of this road into Philadelphia ... South Philly to be exact.

Wonder how the New Jersey Bar feels about this? Obstruction of justice is a serious offense for an attorney. It goes to the heart of what being an attorney is all about. It would be nice to think that lawyer Gayl will be ex-lawyer Gayl.

Have to believe that pleading guilty to conspiracy charges in Federal court and going to prison for a year for doing so will likely mean an end to this 37 year old's "career" as a practicing attorney, one way or another.
