12 Month Reservation - call in vs book online

Had an interesting experience this morning at 9AM when booking my annual MOW reservation and wanted to see if it was normal. I called in at 9AM to reserve week 33 and while on hold decided to check online reservations. I immediately found a Sat check-in and clicked to grab it (but didn't submit yet). Meanwhile, the reservation agent comes on and says that there are no Fri, Sat, Sun check-ins available for week 33. I tell her thanks and then proceed to submit my online request which confirms the booking and I get a confirmation number.

The difference between the online search and the agent search was maybe 20 seconds. Is it possible that all the inventory was grabbed in 20 seconds for week 33 or are agents and online pulling availability from different inventories?

I'm at NC, so had my Mac via iPhone Hotspot and also phoned in via my wife's iPhone. Got to dates screen, clicked on the Friday and then it crashed. Meanwhile I was on a normal hold on phone. After 3 attempts online, I finally got a confirmation before the phone picked up. Got what I wanted, but always stressful!

For the last couple of years online has always been faster for me. I gave up on calling in. Automation is faster than people. Calling in is old school.

I've always booked online, not wanting to risk dealing with busy phone lines. My advice when doing so (from another thread):

I booked our 2BR OV unit at MOC on Thursday at 9am on the dot online [for mid-February 2018]; the inventory was gone minutes later. Login to your account at 8:50am, navigate to the 'Use My Week' page, select your usage option and then sit at the calendar page. Keep clicking on the link at the end of the text - please click here to refresh your calendar. - to refresh the calendar. You could try calling in at the same time, but there's always the risk that you distracted when the inventory shows up online.

The only issues are that you have to call for 13 month weeks reservations and if there isn't availability for points at 12 months, you have to call to wait list.

This was actually my situation. I own two units and called at 13 months to book concurrent reservations, but only 1 unit was available. I booked it and then had to check again at 12 months to book the other.

You'll call your number to the club which you'll find on the website when you sign in to your account. They list it by phone number you give them, usually home if you have one. You can actually do both, and I would in this situation. Get the computer going and the phone at the same time. If you get what you need online, then you can just hang up. Just make sure you call in day 1, it's often not the day you think. Online there is a calculator that tells you the day to call, it would be 12 months from the first day reservations are available for that resort for that weekend normally Friday but sometimes from Thursday.

I usually call about a couple weeks ahead and just verify what day I have to call/log in for either weeks or points reservations at the 13 and 12 month dates, and then do both at 9AM on the day. A couple of days ahead I log on to see availability to really make myself crazy!

If you want to book the same week as this year you can actually book right before you leave. Double-check your dates.

I have checked the calendar, think this week this year was a bit unusual and earlier than normal! But I will keep an eye!
