What I find humorous is the many posts we've seen over the years stating that a Timeshare Relief company, "must be reputable, because after all, it's owned by an attorney."

I'm not slamming attorneys (really), but it is so naive to assume that a Viking Ship scheme is legal or reputable, just because an attorney is running it...

Dealing with a properly licensed individual provides added protection for consumers. Vetting a licensure status should always be part of a consumer's due diligence. Also- it is often far easier for the states to pursue criminal charges against licensed individuals.

I am not saying that having a proper license automatically means that the broker or attorney is legitimate. However, in this particular case, if that attorney is a member of the bar association- there are added consumer protections in place to fight against fraud. The victims may be able to make a claim against the state bar for the damages incurred through the attorney's fraudulent activity.

This same type of oversight and consumer protection applies to properly licensed real estate brokers, title agents, etc.

Let's see if this link works and gets past the firewall. If it doesn't, copy the article title and paste it into a search engine - that will bring up a link that you will be able to read.

its also important to verify the license they have is actually for the purpose of their business....we have seen a good number of companies claiming they are "licensed"...just not licensed to sell real estate...etc.

remember...these people are out to do nothing more than extract money from you...taking anything they say at face value is an absolutely terrible idea.
