Are there any day trips to other islands by boat from Athens, Greece?

We are coming in on a cruise and was just wondering if there was anyway to see by boat some of the other islands? Don't care really about shopping or touring the islands would just like to see some. We will be on a cruise and do not want to miss the ship departure though:). Even a ferry ride to other islands would work. Thanks for your suggestions!

Piraeus is a VERY busy harbor, but (imo) other ports are too distant for day-tripping especially since you have to be back at your cruise ship for departure at a definite time. I'd probably opt for a half day at the Archaeology Museum in Athens, or just wandering the Plaka at the foot of the Acropolis. But that's just me. I really like observing how little what goes on that area has changed in the last couple of thousand years or longer. The merchandise is different, but it's still a popular eatery and marketplace.

Near the sea.
Look on Matt Barrett's Greece website for info. You can email Fantasy Travel, local agency that books all kinds of day trips. There may be a short ferry loop that would work for you. Also ask this on Trip Advisor.
